May 18th Missoula will once again be hosting family and friends in celebration of the U of M’s class of 2013 graduation commencement ceremony. This ceremony takes place in the Washington Grizzly Stadium, making for a breath taking view Mount Sentinel and famous M trail for a backdrop as you watch your graduate complete their journey. The weekend is packed with celebration festivities both pre and post the general commencement. Along with all of these hosted events at the University the city itself offers and endless amount of events, making sure there is something for everyone!
Here is the general commencement schedule of events at a glance;
-7:25 a.m. ASUM Transportation begins continuous bus service to campus from Park‐N‐Ride locations – East Broadway Route and South Route (Dornblaser Field). Seemap on Commencement website.
-7:30 a.m. Coffee with the Class of 2013 –Hosted by President Royce C. Engstrom. Free continental breakfast for degree candidates/graduates,their families and faculty (University Center Atrium).
-8 a.m. Gates open at Washington‐Grizzly Stadium.
-8:45 a.m. Degree candidates/graduates assemble for line‐up on the Oval.
-9:30 a.m. All guests should be seated in the west seating area of Washington‐Grizzly Stadium.
-9:30 a.m. Faculty, degree candidates/graduates and platform party begins processional from the Oval to their respective stadium seating areas.
-10 a.m. Central ceremony begins(Washington‐Grizzly Stadium).
-11:15 a.m. Central ceremony concludes with platform party,faculty and students recessing. After recessional, guests disperse to attend ceremonies that follow.
-11:15 a.m. Commencement Brunch begins at University Center Food Court dining room.
Nature seems to roll out the carpet for this event, with the awakening of spring flowers, revived green slopes of the Missoula valley, and the rivers coming to life from the winter snow melts. Showing off the beautiful displays that Montana has to offer anyone who visits. In honor of Earth Day we thought we would let our readers know that Gibson Mansion Bed and Breakfast is always looking at ways to decrease our footprint.
So this year to continue our recycling water idea we have installed 4 wine barrels to collect our rain water from the gutters. We are excited to see how much water we can recapture to water the gardens through out our summer months.
